Introduction

Welcome to West Coast Pelagic Birding.  We organize trips out of ports along the Oregon coast, we concentrate on Bandon and Newport, Oregon.

Why join a pelagic trip off Oregon?  Oregon has a number of underwater banks and canyons that create the uplift needed to attract marine life and birds. Several ports along the coast give access to these hotspots. Bandon provides close  access to the continental shelf and the true pelagic zone.  The Bandon High Spot is a nearby bank that creates uplifts and is rich in marine life.

Weather permitting, trips are run year round.  Winter months are tough to get out but with a break in the weather a trip is usually trying to go. Newport is the most likely port to get out during the winter.

The guides are local and have many years of experience on pelagic trips. They stress the most important thing is to ask questions, the last thing the guides want is for you to return to port without being able to identify the common birds seen.
